Sicily, an island of contrasts, is not only renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and historical sites but also is host to another phenomenon, hardly mentioned in any tourist guides: its vast collection of modern construction ruins. These unfinished structures, ranging from highway bridges leading to nowhere to half-completed sports arenas, tell stories of bureaucracy, financial hurdles, and political instability. However, rather than viewing them as mere abandoned structures, the artist collective “Alterazioni Video” has reimagined them as a unique architectural style and form of art. Through their project “Incompiuto,” they aim to reshape how we see these ruins, revitalizing them as cultural and artistic resources. These Incompiuti serve as a powerful metaphor for our own unfinished projects and failed ventures. We have all experienced the emotional weight of abandoned efforts \u2013 whether it\u2019s a stalled company restructuring or an ambitious personal project that never reached its desired outcome.
